Why We Upgraded the Sole Material After Passing the CTC Test: The Story of AEGISEC Order #118

    juin 11th, 2026

Recently, production samples from AEGISEC Order #118 successfully passed the international standard compliance tests by the CTC, with sole adhesion values fully surpassing the minimum requirements.

However, during our internal quality re-inspection, our engineering team voluntarily pressed the “pause button.” Here is why.

    1. The Hidden Flaw: Micro-Gaps Imperceptible to the Naked Eye

❗️The Issue: Although the official lab data met all compliance standards, our micro-inspection detected subtle micro-gaps (incomplete bonding) between the PU midsole and the outsole at the forefoot and heel areas.

🔷The Risk: The forefoot and heel are the high-stress flex zones during daily walking. Proceeding with mass production despite this microscopic flaw could easily lead to delamination (sole peeling) during long-term, high-intensity use in harsh, industrial work environments.

    2. Root Cause Analysis: Beyond Craftsmanship, Into Material Chemistry

After a thorough laboratory analysis, our production team confirmed that all physical processes—including roughing depth, priming, and pressing parameters—were executing flawlessly. The root cause lay deeper, in the microscopic chemical properties of the raw material:

❗️Low Surface Energy: The original PU material exhibited low surface energy after injection molding, preventing the adhesive from forming optimal molecular cross-linking with the substrate.

🔷Micro-Repulsion: Combined with the mold edge curvature of the forefoot and heel, this microscopic chemical repulsion resulted in localized “hollow bonding.”

    3. The Solution: Upgrading to Modified Chemically-Active PU

To guarantee 100% premium quality rather than relying on a “barely passing” test report, we immediately partnered with our chemical material supplier to implement an upgrade:

Material Upgrade: We replaced the original material with a newly formulated, modified PU chemical compound infused with surface-activating agents.

Re-Testing: The surface polarity of the new material increased significantly. Re-testing of the updated samples demonstrated perfect cohesive failure (the material itself tore, but the bond line remained fully intact), completely eliminating the risk of delamination.

    The AEGISEC Stance

Meeting standards is merely our baseline; eliminating hidden risks defines our quality. We choose to share this journey transparently because we know global brands choose AEGISEC not just for a test certificate, but for long-term supply chain peace of mind.
